SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Sophomore Janelle Malcolm (Edmonton, Alberta) and senior Michael LeBlanc (Riverview, New Brunswick) have been named the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of January 11, 2010.
Malcolm is a sophomore forward on the ice hockey team. An assistant captain, she has played in all 22 games for the Orange this season, tallying eight points on five goals and three assists. Malcolm had a career-high three points earlier this season on October 23 with one goal and a pair of assists against RPI.
Malcolm is a civil engineering majoring in the L.C. Smith College of Engineering. The Orange faces off against Quinnipiac on Friday, January 15 at 7 p.m. at Tennity Ice Pavilion.
LeBlanc is a senior sprinter on the track and field team. A 2007 All-American, LeBlanc is the school record holder in the indoor 60-meter dash with a 6.67. He is the reigning BIG EAST Champion in the indoor 60-meter dash and earned All-BIG EAST honors with a third-place finish in the outdoor 100-meter dash.
LeBlanc is a dual major in philosophy and political science in the College of Arts & Sciences. The Orange hosts the Syracuse Welcome Back meet on Saturday, January 16 at Manley Field House.
