Results For Our Mid-Season Athlete Of The Year Watchlist

We went through the numbers, and the results are in. Of course, this is only a fan-vote, but early indications are showing that the race is heated! All athletes nominated were well worth the honor, but these two garnered the most attention. Check out what the people have said.

Results

Joseph Perazzo (Susan Wagner) - 41%

The star from Staten Island has been having a strong year. After a breakout performance at the Fed XC meet, Perazzo has been on a tear indoors. State Leader in the 1600m and Top 5 in the 1000m and 3200m, Joe holds the State Island Record for the mile. He's run 9:14 in the 3200m Outdoors last year, and has nearly matched that Indoors. However, his 4:14.07 mile is the top in the State, and with nearly a months distance away from that mark, is ready for an improvement. He'll be at the Millrose Games this weekend, and one to keep an eye on.

Anissa Moore (Hempstead) - 48%

Moore is looking to be the first athlete to win a State Title for two different schools in their High School career since fellow Long Islander Kelsey Margey did so way back in 2012. Moore won the 400m Outdoors at CNS last spring, after a third place finish in the 600m Indoors. Now at Hempstead, Moore is the fastest eligible athlete at the State Meet for the 600m, NY #2 among all New Yorkers. She still has a big field of challengers to come, but she's been improving each week. She recently dropped a full second in the event, running 1:33.38 at the Armory, and is scheduled for the Section 8 Class Champs this week. She is signed with Vanderbilt University for next fall.
