The weight throw one of the most exciting and artistic events of indoor track will be contested at the Millrose Trials January 13, 2010 @ The Armory Track and Field Center. Technique (movement) and strength are essential factors in the success of the weight throw; the weights of the ball are 20lbs for HS girls and 25lbs for HS boys.
The event will begin at 4:30pm with the girls followed by the boys. The Invitational features some of the top throwers in New York State; Josh Haghighi (Wheatley HS) ranked #1 on the state leader board has thrown 63’0, well ahead of #2 TJ Servino, (Monroe Woodbury) who has thrown for 55’9.
The Public Schools Athletic League, in its second year of the weight throw, has produced two excellent throwers; Radoslav Boykuliev (Fiorello LaGuardia) 46’7 and Chukwuebuka Enekwechi (Francis Lewis) 46’5. Karen Henning (St Anthony’s) 53’4 ranked #2 on the state leader board, Natasha Graham (New Rochelle) 42’4 ranked #3, Natasha Amazan (New Rochelle) 40’3 ranked #4 and Yumiko Remouns (Washingtonville) 36’11 ranked #6 top the strong girl’s field. Brianna Davis and Yvonne Trotman both from Springfield Gardens HS lead the talented contingent from the PSAL.
