Summary:  Fairport edged Brighton by a point at Monroe County, which may actually be a good thing for the Bruins since winning at Monroe has often gone hand in hand with losing at S9-A. Both teams seem poised for another nail-biter on Saturday. Brighton does appear to have better compression, but the difference is slight and this is just one of those times when you say, "Every place counts." Churchville-Chili was last year's S5-A champ, and Kyra Pellegrino and Haylie Smith went 1-2 at Monroe and could be the favorites to break the tape.

Summary: HFL impressed at Monroe County with a 3rd place finish, and they seem to have staked out a path to repeating as S5-B champs with a very tight pack. The race does not have a huge amount of runners though, so both the less compressed Mendon and Sutherland squads will not have a huge amount of points added on at the back. The crown for the individual champ is up for grabs.
