SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Graduate student Jeff Scull (Jordan Station, Ontario) and senior Flings Owusu-Agyapong (Toronto, Ontario) have been named Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of December 21, 2009.

Scull is a distance runner on the SU track and field team. He last finished 47th (30:21) at the NCAA Cross Country Championship, helping Syracuse make history with a program-best 14th place finish. Scull was also a member of the Northeast Regional and BIG EAST championship teams, when he finished with times 31:18 and 25:11, respectively. The men's team finished the season ranked ninth nationally, which is the highest ranking in school history.

Scull, who currently enrolled in the exercise science graduate program, became a recipient of the NCAA's Elite 88 award at the Division I Cross Country Championship.

Owusu-Agyapong set two Syracuse records last season, including the 55m dash (7.00) and 60m dash (7.38). She also earned a first-place finish in the 100m dash (11.66) and placed seventh in the 200m dash (24.58) at the 2009 UNC Outdoor Invite.

Owusu-Agyapong is a public health major in the College of Human Ecology. She will join Scull and the Orange track and field team when it hosts the Syracuse Welcome Back on Saturday, January 16.
