Summary: Monroe-Woodbury should resume its dominance of S9-A with the departure of Cornwall to Class B. The Crusaders again have good depth, and the contest here will be for the second spot, with Warwick Valley likely having the edge with a more compressed group than Valley Central. Ava Carsley of Valley Central is the favorite to replace Karrie Baloga as S9-A champ after finishing 2nd last year. 8th grader Olivia Heim leads the MW squad along with senior Samantha Apostolico.

Summary: Cornwall is the top rated Class B team in the state and Karrie Baloga is now 2nd best in the nation, so there is not a lot of suspense for the S9-B title except for whether the Green Dragons will score a perfect 15 and how they are shaping up for their bid for their second States B title following the win at Sunken Meadow in 2018.

Summary: James
O'Neill again scored a perfect 15 in the S9-C race last year and is likely to do so again this year for the third straight time and then move up at least a couple of places on last year's 7th place States finish. Onteora does have a much stronger team than last year and should again finish 2nd. Leah Richardson won the race in 2021 and is expected to take the title again in her senior year.

Summary: Mount Academy had 0 runners last year (new program), and Tri-Valley had just three or four, so neither school was a factor in S9-D. Now they do have full teams, and Mount's meteoric rise with a decently balanced squad puts them in position to earn not only a S9-D title but also a top 5 place at States. Tri-Valley's Anna Furman is rated as one of the top 3 runners in NY's Class D, and if she and her senior brother Adam did pull off a sweep of the States D titles, it would bolster the family's total to three to go along with dad Chip's 1990 Class C title and give the TV girls their sixth all-time individual title and first since Heather Iatauro won her second crown in 2003.
