FULL RESULTS
West Long Branch, NJ – The Men's Indoor Track and Field team kicked off their season at the Inaugural MAC Invitational held at Monmouth University's brand new Multipurpose Activity Center. The Seahawks provided a number of strong efforts, but in the end placed third behind Monmouth and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT).
The men's lone first-place finish came in the 1600 spring medley, where a group consisting of junior
Derek Schultz (Ocean port, NY/Shore Regional), senior
Matt Reidy (West Long Branch, NJ/Shore Regional), freshman Steven Amoroso (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell), and senior
James Johnston (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) took top honors with a 3:40.77 mark.
NJIT (3:45.12) finished second in the event, while Monmouth (3:47.46) placed third.
Another bright spot for the Seahawks was the 600 meter race, where sophomore Robert Macdonald (Dix Hills, NY/Commack) and senior
Kevin Kearney (Haddonfield, NJ/St. Joe's Prep) provided third and fourth place finished, respectively. Macdonald finished in 1:25.63 with Kearney right behind him, finishing in 1:25.81.
Rounding out the day was sophomore
Jeffrey Caravello's (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) impressive performance in the pole vault. His mark, 3.95m, earned third place in the event.
The men's next event will take place on Friday, December 11th at the Fordham Invitational.
