The heaviest action last weekend was at Burnt Hills where Saratoga followed up on a dual meet victory three weeks before to again hold off Bethlehem in the Varsity 4 race. Cornwall looked impressive while winning the Varsity 3 race to lead the Class B teams, and Northport and Niskayuna moved up with solid performances in the V4 race while Voorheesville continued to dominate the Class D action with a win in the V1 race.
The other big meet last weekend was out at the Alden Bulldog where Orchard Park won the big-schools Gold race and East Aurora took the smaller-schools Blue race. With very similar placements, the order in the Overall rankings between the two teams was determined by matching their Alden results head-to-head, and the Quakers got the 28-29 edge over the Blue Devils. Elsewhere among the small schools, Norwood-Norfolk, Adirondack, and Beaver River finished 1-2-3 at the Beavers' host meet for an impact in the Class C and D rankings.
Teams are listed with the average speed ratings numbers supplied by Tully Runners, and the number in parentheses shows the difference between the 1-5 runners, each point equaling 3 seconds on a 5K course, and smaller compression numbers are generally better.
On Wednesday the big league meets kick off with the SCAC meet for the Class A Syracuse-area schools, and over the next week there will be a slew of either league or county meets including Albany County, OCIAA (Orange County), Rensselaer County, STAC, Tri Valley, CSC, Foothills Council, OHSL Patriot, Wasaren, Section 11 Divisionals, and WAC meets. The invitationals keep coming too, and the Section 1 Coaches meet allows an inspection of the Bowdoin Park course for teams thinking about Federations or Nike Regionals. Other invites coming up include Alexander, Collegiate, Greenwich, Sunset Stampede, Edward Bowes, and Marion meets.
