New York Boys State Rankings - Week 4

Following Week of Saturday, October 8

CBA-Lincroft NJ won its 7th Manhattan-Eastern States in 14 tries, but the battle for 2nd between two NY teams triggered a change at the top of the state rankings. Corning outlasted Saint Anthony's for 2nd, and the Hawks moved to 1st in the standings. Monroe-Woodbury, Xavier, and Brooklyn Tech excelled in the Varsity Letter races to hold down the next three NY spots at Manhattan and sit 3rd, 7th, and 8th respectively in the state rankings. Vestal was tops among the Class B teams, Trinity led the Class C teams, and Class D Tri-Valley especially sparkled in the huge Eastern States race as the 7th best NY team team overall at Manhattan. Kudos to Baldwinsville's Solomon Holden-Betts for putting on a stupendous finishing kick in Eastern States that took him from 14th with about 500 meters to go and all the way to 5th for the top NY place at the meet.

There was other action going on last week, and Hunter won at Byram Hills to move into 2nd in Class B, Saratoga won its host meet as expected in big fashion, and Fayetteville-Manlius took the prize at Chittenango to move up.

Teams are listed with the average speed ratings numbers supplied by Tully Runners, and the number in parentheses shows the difference between the 1-5 runners, each point equaling 3 seconds on a 5K course, and smaller compression numbers are generally better.

This weekend will be fairly quiet as teams are attending to league meets during the weekdays. The biggest action will be at Burnt Hills, and among the other invite selections are Tully, Weedsport, NYC Carnival, Nassau Coaches, Marathon, Alden Bulldog Stampede, and Beaver River.
