Men's Cross Country Release #6: Raiders Host Patriot League Championship

Sat., Oct. 31 – Patriot League Championship, 11:00 a.m.

The Colgate University men's cross-country team will host the Patriot League Championship on Oct. 31. The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m. The Raiders finished seventh last season.

LAST OUTING
Junior Ed Sheridan led the Raiders to an eighth place finish at the Albany Invitational. Sheridan finished 33rd overall with a personal-best time of 25:48.3.
Junior Dan Gleason finished second on the team, 34th overall, with a time of 25:48.9, while freshman Chris Johnson was directly behind him with a personal-best time of 25:49.2.
Sophomore Tim Metivier, and junior Grant Stauffer rounded out the Raiders with times of 26:15.6 and 26:18.4, respectively.

THE ART GALLERY
With more than two decades of coaching experience, Art McKinnon is one of the most knowledgeable track and field mentors in the Patriot League and the northeast. Now in his 22nd year as the head coach of the Colgate University men's cross country and track and field programs, McKinnon has coached the Raiders to two Patriot League team championships, and has guided 37 student-athletes to individual league crowns.
In 2001, McKinnon guided the cross-country team to victory at the IC4A Championship, and the Raiders finished second in 2002. In 2007, Colgate placed third behind the University of New Hampshire and Syracuse University at the IC4A Championship.
In 1994, McKinnon coached Colgate through an undefeated, 8-0 season - the best record since the 1962 season - and in 1995, his team set the school standard for wins in a season with a 10-7 record.

Colgate will travel to Boston for the NCAA Regional Qualifier on Nov. 14. The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m.
