Outlook: The Blackbirds drop down to D after a 4th place finish last year in the States C race, and the setup looks very favorable for a team that lost just one runner from last year and has the most depth among the top contenders. Miriam Sayahi placed 4th in the States C race in 2021 and should be among the top runners in D this year.

Outlook:
The Knights earned their best ever place at States with a 2nd last year, and the top 6 from last year are back and have States medalists Faith Skowron and Julia Benton on the lead. There could still a close contest for Addison in S5-D since Honeoye Central also has just about everyone back and Harley-Allendale-Columbia might rebuild well.

Outlook:
South Lewis claimed its second States title in four years in 2021 in a dominating performance with Brynn and Lexi Bernard placing 1st and 2nd and Mallory Kraeger and Grace Bailey also earning top 20 medals. With Lexi Bernard now graduated, the always thin Falcons will need to find some help at the back to defend their States title against some deeper challengers. Brynn Bernard enters the season as the big favorite to earn a repeat States title in her junior year.
Outlook:
The Wolfpack have their entire varsity squad back, while reigning S6-D champ Maple Grove lost the first and third spots on their team. CSP will have a much deeper team than the Red Dragons this year, and that could be enough to finally get a ticket to States.

Outlook: BNL has been on a roll in recent years, and with five of the top back, the team should improve further. But with Voorheesville dropping down to Class D, the prospects for a third straight title are not that high. Allura Meizinger projects to be a medalist this year.

Outlook: The Bulldogs have never had a team at States, and they sent no one there last year, but when you have your top 5 back, good things can happen. The Bulldogs are running a little ways behind reigning S5-D champ Addison, but with a little development work, they should stand a chance.

Outlook: The Bombers have reeled off three straight wins at sectionals since 2018, and last year Samantha D'Amico got the team's first top 5 place there as an 8th grader while her team was earning its best ever place.. But the loss of even one runner hurts the chances for a very thin team like Lake Placid in the S7-D contest with an intact Ticonderoga team, so the Bombers need to find more young runners as they did last year with not only D'Amico but also fellow rising freshman Kai McKinnon.
