SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Graduate student Greg Paulus (Syracuse, N.Y.) and junior Katie Hursey (Hampstead, Md.) have been named Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of November 16, 2009.

Paulus is a quarterback on the Syracuse football team. He has a 65.8 completion percentage this season, which is the best single-season performance in Syracuse history and ranks fifth in the BIG EAST in 2009. His 158.6 passing yards per game is fifth in the conference this season.

Paulus is enrolled in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications television, radio and film Master's program. He will join the football team when it hosts Rutgers for its home finale on Saturday, November 21 at 3:30 p.m.

Hursey is a junior runner on the No. 10 women's cross country team. She became SU's first individual women's champion at the NCAA Northeast Regional championships after finishing with a time of 21:57. She was also a member of the women's team who made school history when it took home the NCAA Northeast Regional title for the first time in program history. She has also clocked the team's best time in four of the past five races.

Hursey is a health and exercise science major in the School of Education and will compete at the NCAA Championships on Monday, November 23 in Terre Haute, Ind.
