The COVID-19 pandemic has taken its toll on the State and the sport since it's arrival in March of 2020. For New York's prep shot putters, we were on a roll. For 11 years straight, we had a 60-Foot Shot Putter. Two days before COVID shutdowns began to hit, we squeaked by with a 60-0 clearance at the State Meet. But alas, that streak would end in 2021, where competition was limited, and throwers hung up their shoes.
Flash forward to 2022, and now the Season is back in full. And just like that, the streak starts anew.
Although he may find himself defined more by the Hammer and Weight, Michael Pinckney has improved in the Shot as well. On December 29th, Pinckney threw a personal best of 61-8.25 to join the exclusive club.
Check out the full history below, and hopefully, you'll be able to add your name soon enough.
Here's to keeping the streak alive for another 11 years plus.
