2021 CHSAA Championship Preview

The CHSAA was one of the few XC conferences that held a basically normal championship meet last fall during the depths of pandemic times, and this year, except for maybe the weather, it looks like full speed ahead for the traditional slugfest that has always gone down in mid October at Van Cortlandt Park. The times have been interesting for the CHSAA in recent years, as after a long stretch when dominant teams took up position for winning streaks, since 2018 three different teams for both the boys and girls have won the team title. Individually things have been a little more stable on the girls' side, as Notre Dame-Manhattan's Brigid McCabe repeated as a senior last year and followed Sacred Heart's Maggie Maier who won in both 2017 and 2018.

Of the four favorites for the boys and girls team and individual titles, only Myles Hogan of Fordham Prep and the Saint Anthony's girls are in line for a repeat. And it appears there is a strong chance that the CHSAA guys could see a fourth different winner on the team side, which will be an event that totally tosses aside the conference's claims of tradition and stability as it enters a new age of anything goes.

Projections for the boys and girls follow from the links below, but beware that the teams have been pretty unruly recently and have usually tossed aside the order shown in the previews, and also how they finished in the NYBQCHSAA and NSCHSAA meets.
