Orange Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Seniors Dan Busby and Gabrielle Beaudry have been named Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of November 2, 2009.
Busby is a senior runner on the 2009 BIG EAST Champion men's cross country team. He finished fourth on the team and 13th overall with a time of 25:15, powering the Orange to its first championship crown in program history. He was a part of the Orange team that placed first at the Wisconsin Adidas Invite, which brought the team from being unranked to a No. 11 ranking in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll.
Busby is a senior dual major in accounting and finance in the Whitman School of Management. He will compete at the NCAA Northeast Regional in Boston, Mass. on Saturday, Nov. 14.
Beaudry is a senior on the women's ice hockey team. She has played in all eight games for the Orange this season, where she has made 10 shots on goal. The team last competed at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where it swept the two-game series against the Engineers.
Beaudry is a senior marketing management major in the Whitman School of Management. She will join the rest of the Orange ice hockey team when it plays its home opener against Niagara on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
