Class LL's Top Teams
Hall won both the LL and Open championships two years ago, and the Warriors' top two finishers from the Class meet Katherine Sanderson and Nora Holmes are back for the 2021 campaign. But rest of that championship team including senior star Jenna Zydanowicz are gone, and last year Hall lost to Class L Simsbury in the CCC conference A meet. Winner of the CCC-B race Southington behind senior Jacqueline Izzo and a pack of sophomores appears now to be the strongest LL team in the CCC, and Hall and Glastonbury will be giving chase.
The top teams in the FCIAC get the highest ratings in the LL preview rankings. Ridgefield won the 4K FCIAC Central race last year and has four of the top five back including Katherine Rector and Georgia Keller. Greenwich won the FCIAC West race but lost their top two of 2019 Open champ Mari Noble and Grace Collier, and now Esme and Amelie Daplyn and Elizabeth Anderson will be leading the Cardinals. Fairfield Ludlowe was 2nd in the FCIAC East and has a senior top three led by CT's top returning runner Anna Keeley, but the Falcons will need to find some depth. Trumbull is another team led by a top state runner with Kali Holden, but FCIAC East champ Eagles lost three of their top five. Staples on the other hand gets a boost from the return of all but one runner from the 2020 squad.
