TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Syracuse women's cross country team finished fourth overall at the Pre-Nationals Invitational hosted by Indiana State University on Saturday. The No. 15 women scored 191 points in the 6,000-meter white race to secure their finish, beating five of the nation's top 30 teams, including No. 8 Minnesota (214), No. 12 Baylor (546), and No. 18 Illinois (206). Top-ranked Washington, No. 9 Florida and No. 5 Princeton finished ahead of the Orange.

Junior Katie Hursey led the Orange for the second meet in a row, posting the team's best time of 21:14.7, earning 23rd overall. In their last race at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational on Oct. 3, Hursey also secured the team's top spot, when her seventh place finish propelled SU to take home second. Fellow junior Rebekah MacKay finished second for the Orange, placing 28th overall.

The women also participated in the open 6,000-meter race, where freshman Sarah Pagano finished second to Minnesota's Mallory Van Ness with a time of 21:56.2. Sophomores Natalie Busby (21:56.6) and Carly Hamond (22:01.6) placed third and fourth, respectively, while senior Stefanie Slekis (22:31.1) rounded out the top 10, placing eighth.

The women will rejoin the men on Friday, Oct. 23, when both teams travel to Ithaca, N.Y. to compete in the John Reif Memorial.
