SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse cross country teams earned their highest national ranking in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll. The previously unranked men's team is No. 11, while the women's squad climbed six spots to No. 15.
The national ranking comes two days after the Orange competed at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational, where the men finished first, beating out five top 30 teams. The women placed second at Wisconsin, besting five of the nation's top 30.
After finishing first in back-to-back meets, the No. 11 men's team boasts its highest regular-season ranking in program history. The last time the Orange was ranked was in 2007, when the squad was No. 26.
The women improved to No. 15, which is now the highest team ranking in history. The team has finished in the top three in every competition this season, including a first-place victory at the Colgate Invitational.
The Orange will travel to Terre Haute, Ind. on Oct. 17 to compete in Pre-Nationals.
