VERONA, Wis. – The Syracuse University men's cross country team legged out a first-place victory at the inaugural Wisconsin Adidas Invitational on Saturday, while the No. 21 women earned a second-place finish. The meet united the nation's top collegiate programs and was run on the brand new Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.

The men's team scored 41 points in the 8-kilometer race en route to its first-place finish, beating out two top 10 teams. Finishing behind the Orange was No. 10 Georgetown (60), followed by the event's host, No. 4 Wisconsin (94). Prior to the meet, Syracuse was unranked in the national polls, but ranked fourth in the Northeast Region.

Finishing third overall, sophomore Tito Medrano (23:56) led the SU team that won the title. Senior Brad Miller (24:02), sophomore Griff Graves (24:06), and senior Dan Busby (24:11) were also among the competition's top 10 individual finishers.

The No. 21 Orange women scored 80 points, finishing just two points behind No. 29 Duke to secure the second-place finish in a race that included seven of the top 30 nationally-ranked teams.

Junior Katie Hursey clocked the best time for the women, finishing seventh overall with a time of 17:26.

The Orange will take a break before competing at Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind. on Saturday, October 17.
