In 2019, two of the nation's top hurdlers went toe-to-toe at the Bullis Bulldog Invitational.
How big was the race?
Rhea, a senior at St. Augustine Prep (NJ) and a Penn State University signee, was just a month removed from his national indoor title in the 60mH. On the other end, Turay, the Texas A & M recruit, had opened up his season at Arcadia, where he finished third in the 110mH.
Sure enough, this one didn't disappoint.
Rhea matched Turay nearly stride-for-stride over each hurdle before a dash to the line ensued. Only a hundredth-of-a-second separated the winner from second-place. Nearly a full second separated the next closest competitor in third.

Retrospective:
- Turay eventually finished his season with the fourth-fastest wind-legal time in the country, at 13.58 (+1.7) seconds. He qualified for the finals of the event at New Balance Nationals Outdoor, but false started in the finals of the race.
- Rhea closed his campaign with the third-fastest effort in the country, at 13.51 seconds (+0.5). And he very nearly pulled off the national double. But in the NBNO final, Oscar Smith's Kurt Powdar earned redemption -- he DQ'ed in the final of indoor -- and won the race in 13.27 seconds. Rhea was second in 13.51.
