HAMILTON, N.Y. –
Sophomore Griff Graves (25:06) and junior Rebekah MacKay (21:43) each earned a first place finish to lead the Syracuse teams to the top overall spots at the Colgate Invitational in Hamilton, N.Y on Saturday. The Navy men (42) and women (54) placed second in both races, while the home school Colgate took third in the men's (85) and women's (75) competitions.

“I was very pleased with the performance of both teams. It was a great indicator of big things in the near future,” said head coach Chris Fox.

On the men's side, Syracuse runners claimed four of the top five spots in Saturday's race. Sophomore Tito Medrano (25:07) finished just one second behind teammate Graves to take second place. Veteran Dan Busby (25:12) and newcomer Forrest Misenti (25:15) rounded out the top five.

In the women's race, Orange runners also dominated, taking eight of the first nine spots. Junior Katie Hursey (21:51) and 2008 All-Northeast Region selection Maegan Krifchin (21:53) finished third and fourth, respectively.

“The individual performance of MacKay was a highlight, as well as the one, two finish of Graves and Medrano,” Fox said.

Next up, the Orange will travel to the Wisconsin Inter-Regional in Madison, Wisconsin on Oct. 3.
