CHSAA Girls Recap

Wrap-up

Notre Dame as projected won its fifth title in six years by 9 points over Sacred Heart, a little bigger margin than Kellenberg took last year in its 54-56 win over the Spartans. The Gators got out to a 21-37 lead after four places behind Sierra and Lola Dinneen, Giavanna Comerford, and Alyssia Brown, and then Sofia Garcia sealed the deal in 28th place overall.

For the second straight year, Sacred Heart made a great run for the title, but Maggie Maier, Marie Naudus, Shannon Thieke, Sophia Fitzpatrick, and Helen Moloney fell a little short and will be looking to Feds now. Saint Anthony's also had a nice finish as a mainly junior pack of Kelly Parker, Lindsey Schwasnick, Larisa Dorrian, Angelina Desjardin, and Kylie Maddalena packed into 11th to 19th team places to get close with 71 points. St. John the Baptist with seniors Madison Isnardi and Kerri McCormack on the lead was 4th with 88 points.

The winner was from Notre Dame, but she was not on the champion Gators from Staten Island. Brigid McCabe of Manhattan's Notre Dame Dragons took the win by 9 seconds after finishing 17th as a sophomore in 2018. Rounding out the top 5 were Maya Dorer of St. Joseph of Brooklyn, 2018 champ Maggie Maier of Sacred Heart, Sierra Dinneen of Notre Dame SI, and Adia Palmer of Bishop Loughlin.
