Summary: The only safe bets in this race is that a familiar blond ponytail will be flying way out in front and there will be a lot of prolonged "Go, Katie!" screams as the first six runners pass through. North Rockland has won four S1-A titles in a row, and the last time they lost a 7th grader named Mary Hennelly was helping to lead her Suffern team to the win in 2014. The Red Raiders jumped their speed ratings at Rockland County, and most of the rise came at the back of the lineup where the team had been vulnerable. Northern County winner Arlington and Westchester County champ Ursuline have similar compositions with four runners tucked in before North Rockland's 4th, but with a a 5th spot that is now a ways in back of NRock's 6th. How this all plays out with a big mix of competitive teams is anyone's guess. And it is rare in a Class A race to have two runners at the top who have won four Sectional championships between them, but seniors Katelyn Tuohy and Mary Hennelly will heading out for one last SQ 5K with Hennelly this year as reigning champ since Tuohy sat this one out with an injury last year on her way to another Nationals crown.

Summary:  Pearl River won 33 Sectional titles in a row and 35 of 36 during a period spanning from 1979 to 2014, but the last four years John Jay-Cross River has ruled while picking up two state championships to go with the Feds title won in 2014. With last year's Sectional champ Mary Borkoski now graduated, there are no Pirates left who ran on the last team to pick up an S1-B win. This year's fairly young group looks ready to win as their speed ratings took another jump after a spirited 2nd place to North Rockland in their county meet. Sophomore Una Boylan is the favorite to replace Borkoski as individual champ for Class B's 2nd- ranked team.

Summary: Bronxville has won 22 straight Sectional titles, by far the longest current streak of wins on either the girls' or boys' sides. All of the championships including 12 States wins were achieved under coach Jim Mitchell, however, and his retirement last year may have brought on the apocalypse as for the first time since the invention of Furby and the founding of Google, the Broncos are not the favorite at SQs. Dobbs Ferry has the runners at the top to capture their first ever Sectional win, but everything will revolve around a key 5th spot on a not-too-deep Eagles team. Ava Jolley won Sectionals and finished 2nd at States last year and will again be the favorite, with three-time States medalist Phoebe Ward giving chase.

Summary: Only Alexander Hamilton managed to get a full squad to their County meet, but there's hope for three teams at Sectionals as all have at least five runners listed with a time in a race this year. Haldane's Shannon Ferri coasted to a Sectional win last year and then picked up a medal at States. This year she has a strong shot at a top 10 States place.
