Summary:  Last year Smithtown won by 60 points, and for the Bulls it was their third S11-A title in a row before going on to finish 3rd at States. Smithtown, Northport, and Eastport-South Manor made big jumps at the S11 Divisionals which aren't really reflected in the season's speed ratings, though a virtual score from them has Northport up by 10. Last year Smithtown dominated at both Divisionals and Sectionals, and it seems more likely that the 61-81-100 score there between Smithtown, Northport, and ESM is most reflective of the teams' current strengths. Still, the lineups are fairly evenly matched, and if Northport and ESM can pull their 5th spot up to match Smithtown's recent surge at the back, this could get interesting. Smithtown's Michael Danzi and Michael Silveri of ESM finished 6th and 8th last year and as the top returners are expected to be jousting at the front.

Summary:  A race that seemed would be a blowout a month ago following Westhampton Beach's huge win in the Manhattan G race has suddenly tightened up a lot as the Hurricanes have been competing without a top runner and showing some weakness at the back of the lineup. Westhampton should still win comfortably, but Sayville has been moving up, and its pack could be a threat here. The battle at the top should be scintillating as reigning champ Thomas Ciritto battles Gavin Ehlers, who finished 6th last year as a freshman.
