Summary:  It's been 8 years since Corning was defeated at a Sectional, and during the last two years the Hawks have beaten Ithaca by comfortable margins. This year however should be a nail-biter following Ithaca's 8 point win at STAC. The last time Ithaca won S4-A was in 2013 when Corning opted to compete in Class B, but this contest shapes up to look like one of the hard-fought classics the two two teams had during the 2014-2016 years when Corning's winning margin was less than 10. Though neither team is at the level of those past years' highly ranked squads, there is still a good amount of talent in a contest that is basically a toss-up. Corning has a slightly higher speed rating but also a bigger compression number. The 4-5 spots are where Ithaca could pick up the winning points, just as it did at STAC, though Corning will also likely be flying higher at the top than it did at STAC. The virtual projection has Ithaca as a 34-38 winner, which makes it a toss-up, but Ithaca has 7 guys who have gone 151 or higher this year, while Corning has just three, and the Little Red's better depth mixed with a little help from other teams should win out. Torrey Jacobson-Evan finished 4th behind four seniors last year, and he will be the favorite for the individual title.

Summary:  Though S4-B has no ranked teams, it does have a very good chance for close, fun Sectional battle. Vestal and Windsor have the same speed ratings, but Vestal has much better balance and depth and should take the win. Owego and Johnson City are also strongly in the running here. Owego won easily last year but graduated its top 5. Josh Stone is the huge favorite to be first over the line, and he will be among the favorites for a States title also.

Summary:   Both Watkins Glen and Newark Valley have been pushing their speed rating numbers up lately for a S4-C contest that should be close. IAC champ Watkins Glen has two-time reigning individual winner Gabe Planty on the lead, and he should be hooking be in a good duel with Waverly's Collin Wright and Newark Valley's IAC winner Jonny Sherwood, who was 3rd last year.
