Teams making major moves upward included Northport, Eastport-South Manor, Mount Academy, Packer Collegiate, CBA Syracuse, and Sauquoit Valley. A few other teams that copped 1st place trophies included Hackley at Brown, Irondequoit and Monroe-Woodbury at Section 1 Coaches, Regis at NYC XC Carnival, Fayetteville-Manlius at SCAC, Guilderland at Albany, Beaver River at Frontier, Fairport at Clarence, and Pioneer at Sunset Stampede.
Twenty-seven varsity meets are listed for the coming week stretching from Wednesday to Tuesday as a huge panoply of conference, county, final invitationals, and interdivisional meets churn into action. Among the biggest meets concerning the rankings are the S9 OCIAA Orange County meet on Friday, S2 Suburban Council, S6 ECIC, and NY-BQ CHSAA and PSAL boro championships at Van Cortlandt on Saturday, NSCHSAA meet on Sunday, and the Rockland County and Section 11 Division championships on Tuesday. State Qualifiers kick off early this year as Section 2 gets about a week's head start on the other sections on Friday, November 1.
