8 New Names To Know: Breakout Stars Of The 2019 XC Season

Thomas Ragone (Niskayuna)

Grade: 12th

2018 Rank: 85th

2019 Rank: 5th

Quick Look: Tom Ragone had a spotty season of XC in 2018, racing sporadically, most likely due to injury.  His team had a certified front-runner in Marty Dolan, and on the track, the training seemed to be coming along.  He brought his 1600m mark down to a 4:25, and dipped just under 2mins in the 800m

In 2019, Ragone has been having a big season, with some notable performances.  Running in an unseeded race at McQuaid, he was able to clock the 5th fastest time of the day in the merge, with a 15:20.  More recently, he dropped his SPAC best down to 15:11.72, placing in the Top 50 All-Time for that course.  He currently vying for the title of top dog in Section 2, a region known for it's depth.
