SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior forward Tessa MacDougall (Surrey, British Columbia) and senior runner Curtis Bixler (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) have been chosen as Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of September 7, 2009.

MacDougall has started in all five games for the women's soccer team this season. She was tied for second on the team in points (5) and goals scored (2) in 2008. She was one of five players to start every game in last year's campaign. A team captain and member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team, MacDougall has netted three goals in her career.

MacDougall is a dual major in finance and supply chain management in the Whitman School of Management. She will join the rest of the women's soccer team Friday, Sept. 11 when they travel to Hamilton, N.Y. to square off against the Colgate Raiders at 7 p.m. They will finish off the weekend at Niagara for a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday, Sept. 13.

Bixler is a fourth-year cross country runner for the Orange. Last year, he won the Harry Lang Invitational with an overall time of 19:05.00. He ran the 2008 Spiked Shoe Invitational in 26:47 and placed 65th at last year's BIG EAST Championship with a time of 26:20.

Bixler, a geology major in the College of Arts and Sciences, will join his fellow cross country teammates when they travel to compete at the Colgate Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 19.
