In our Summer Training Blog, Junior Brooke Rauber (Tully) casually mentioned breaking her home course record during a team time trial. Well, with the Invite now officially in the books, those claims have been reinforced, as Rauber drops down her own course record by nearly 30-seconds. In 2018, Rauber ran 17:46.7 to win the overall gold, in quite muddy conditions. One year later, and Rauber runs to a winning mark of 17:14.3.
The mark would have placed fifth overall in the Boys Race, just one week after Rauber won her race at the McQuaid Invitational. At McQuaid, Rauber was in the small schools race, in conditions which were almost 15-degrees (real-feel) hotter than subsequent races. Even still, Rauber would finish third overall in the merge. Battling illness in the early season, Rauber is nonetheless undefeated head-to-head. Her speed rating of 155.23 here is currently US No. 5 for this year, and in the NY Top 5 over the past five years.
Next week, Rauber's team is currently entered in the Manhattan Invite. There, if all opt to enter Eastern's, Rauber will face Katelyn Tuohy (North Rockland), Jenna Schulz (Liverpool), and Claire Walters (Fayetteville-Manlius), who all reside in the Top 4 spots in the State Individual Rankings.
