States Individuals (Top 10 finishers): Peg Melonic (1996, B-8th) (1997, B-3rd) (1998, B-2nd), Molly Claus (2001, C-7th) (2002, B-9th), Jaime Rzepecki (2004, B-8th), Sarah Mosser (2005, B-10th), Catherine Lussardi (2006, B-3rd) (2007, B-1st), Jenna Hulton (2006, B-4th) (2007, B-3rd), Catherine Phillips (2007, B-7th) (2008, B-10th) (2009, B-6th), Kirsten Weberg (2008, B-7th), Marta McLaughlin (2009, B-7th) (2010, B-2nd) (2011, B-9th) 2012 (B-7th) (2013, B-9th), Megan Hulton (2009, B-8th) (2010, B-4th), Sarah Anstett (2010, B-8th), Sophia Tasselmyer (2014, C-1st) (2015, C1-st) (Note: (2012, B-5th) (2013, B-2nd) with Starpoint), Fiona Danieu (2015, C-2nd), Molly McLaughlin (2017, B-6th), Megan McLaughlin (2017, B-7th) (2018, B-10th)

Last Year's Summary:   6th in States B, 1st in Sectionals

Roster
Megan McLaughlin10110125
Karis Ertel12248111
Samantha Hulme9106893
Geneva Green1176692
Maggie McLaughlin12118392
Celia Cocca11229264

Outlook: East Aurora does not have quite as much depth as usual and is coming off its lowest States finish in a long time, but the important info is that the Blue Devils are once more favorites for a ninth state championship. The top 5 finishers are back from last year's rebuilding squad, and if States medalist Megan McLaughlin and Karis Ertel can stay on course and a healthy top 5 develops behind them, EA could be getting their first B title in nine years..

Pearl River (Pirates)

Section 1

States Teams: 1979 (A-3rd), 1980 (B-1st), 1981 (B-1st), 1982 (B-1st), 1983 (B-1st), 1984 (B-2nd), 1985 (B-2nd), 1986 (B-3rd), 1987 (B-2nd), 1988 (B-1st), 1989 (B-1st), 1990 (B-2nd), 1991 (B-7th), 1992 (C-2nd), 1993 (C-2nd), 1994 (B-1st), 1995 (B-3rd), 1996 (B-2nd), 1997 (B-2nd), 1998 (B-2nd), 1999 (C-1st), 2000 (C-2nd), 2001 (C-2nd), 2002 (C-3rd), 2003 (B-4th), 2004 (B-3rd), 2005 (B-4th), 2006 (B-3rd), 2007 (B-3rd), 2008 (B-2nd), 2009 (B-4th), 2010 (B-2nd), 2011 (B-5th), 2013 (B-2nd), 2014 (B-5th)
States Individuals (Top 10 finishers):  Joann Turilli (1982, B-5th), Erika Duthiers (1986, B-4th) 1988 (B-9th), Nathalie Marquis (1987, B-4th), Jen Barber (1992, C-7th), Liz Kane (1994, B-9th), Courtney O'Keefe (1999, C-1st), Vanessa McKay (1999-C-2nd) (2000, C-6th) (2001, C-6th), Jocelyn Gaines (2002, C-3rd), Samantha Stadt (2004, B-7th), (2005, B-2nd), Chelsea Kushner (2008, B-9th), Ceili McMorrow (2010, B-9th), Kelly Hayes (2011, B-8th) (2013, B-3rd), Mary Borkoski (2018, B-4th)

Last Year's Summary:  2nd in Sectionals

Roster
Una Boylan10724114
Niamh Durcan1111
105
Ciara Durcan1136
97
Catie Horan1015
91
Kelly Gilligan1131
87
Olivia Flynn1223
83

Outlook: Mary Borkoski will be missing from the helm of the Pirate ship for the first time in five years, but six of the top 8 from 2018 are back headed by States finalist Una Boylan. A decently deep Pearl River squad with Niamh and Ciara Durcan and Catie Horan sporting 90+ speed ratings will enter the preseason as favorites in S1-B, but if the Pirates hope to displace John Jay-Cross River as Sectional champs for the first time in five years, they will need to aim for a peak at Bowdoin in early November.

CBA Syracuse (Brothers)

Section 2

States Teams: 2016 (C-4th), 2017 (C-1st)
States Individuals (Top 10 finishers): Megan Ann Pierce (2012, C-7th), Katie Brislin (2008, C-10th) (2009, C-7th), Olivia Morganti (2017, C-3rd) (2018, B-2nd), Cory Knox (2017, C-6th), Deja Jones (2017, C-7th)

Last Year's Summary:  3rd in States B, 1st in Sectionals

Roster
Olivia Morganti1212142
Deja Scripa-Jones11613121
Lea Kyle12115895
Mia Kirch10148074
Savannah Conway11

57
Isabella Canizzo103110548

Outlook: States medalists Olivia Morganti and Deja Scripa-Jones give the Brothers a powerful top two, but losing Cory Knox and Bri Pucci from last year's squad leaves CBA with big holes to fill. Recruitment is the name of the game for a tiny school like CBA to operate in Class B, and though the Brothers' hold on S3-B seems secure, a run to another States title will require some new young talent.

Burnt Hills (Spartans)

Section 2

States Teams: 2003 (B-7th), 2006 (A-1st), 2007 (A-1st), 2008 (A-1st), 2010 (A-3rd), 2011 (B-2nd), 2014 (B-1st), 2015 (B-3rd) 2016 (B-4th), 2017 (B-6th) 2018 (B-4th)  NXN Nationals: 2007 (5th), 2008 (8th)
States Individuals (Top 10 finishers): Tina Reynolds (1989, A-8th), Ansku Jalohen (1988, A-4th), Leah Folmsbee (1999, B-9th) (2000, B-9th), Meaghan Gregory (2006, A-2nd) (2008, A-8th), Sam Roecker (2006, A-4th) (2007, A-2nd) (2008, A-4th), Molly Pezzulo (2008, A-5th) (2009, A-6th), Kiersten Anderson (2009, A-8th), Eva Scott (2015, B-4th) (2016, B-5th), Rory Graham (2016, B-10th)

Last Year's Summary:  4th in States B, 1st in Sectionals

Roster
Emily Berg10420113
Jamisen Vendetti10331107
Madison Whited1186794
Madison Smith1197590
Hannah Lewis11198575
Mattingly O'Rourke1022
70
Lindsey Rounds1128
65
Billie McCloskey12269560

Outlook: The young Spartans have everyone except frontrunner Rory Graham back from last year's 4th place States team. With the top group all back for next year also, Burnt Hills could be looking for its first States title in five years and then maybe working on a streak as it did from 2006 to 2008 in Class A. But first sophomores Emily Berg and Jamisen Vendetti will need to get a few more 100+ TR level performers running with them to nail down the Spartans' 5th state championship.

Mohonasen (Warriors)

Section 2

States Teams:
States Individuals (Top 10 finishers):

Last Year's Summary:  2nd in Sectionals
Roster
Kate Sherman11216116
Emma Sinisgalli1216
99
Christa Bailey12117390
Natalia Sawyer1015
89
Loren Cuomo10

79
Jillian Collins938
50

Outlook: Mohonasen has finished 2nd to Burnt Hills in S2-B for the last two years, though in 2017 the margin was only 6 points. 2019 may be the best opportunity for the Warriors to make history, though the loss of Anna Sherman and Emily Rancana will hurt. States medlaist Kate Sherman is back, and seniors Emma Sinisgalli and Christa Bailey along with sophomore Natalia Sawyer will keep Mohonasen close enough to Burnt Hills to be dangerous if a little more depth can be found.

Manhasset (Indians)

Section 8

States Teams:  1988 (B-11th), 1989 (B-12th), 1990 (B-10th), 1992 (B-12th), 1993 (B-6th), 1994 (B-6th), 1995 (B-4th), 2004 (B-9th), 2005 (B-11th), 2016 (B-7th)
States Individuals (Top 10 finishers):  Jill Kennedy (1993, B-10th), Taissa Kuncio (1994, B-7th) (1995, B-4th)

Last Year's Summary:  18th at NXR-NY,  3rd in Sectionals
Roster
Angeline Caamano11817112
Ryann Kenny1213
98
Sydney Ginsburg1215
88
Samantha Kinloch1111
88
Samantha Chen1120
83
Chloe Mantis1234
53

Outlook: Manhasset finished 3rd last year in a 42-43-48 tussle with South Side and North Shore last year, but everyone is back from a squad that placed five runners in the top 20 of S8-B including States medalist Angeline Caamano. The trick for the Indians to capture the Sectional title they last won three years ago is to push a bunch more runners up in the top 10 in S8-B's small six-team field.

John Jay - Cross River (Indians)

Section 1

States Teams: 2015 (B-1st), 2016 (B-2nd), 2017 (B-1rst), 2018 (B-2nd)
States Individuals (Top 10 finishers): Gemma Nutall (2015, B-2nd), Pippa Nutall (2015, B-10th) (2016, B-6th) (2017, B-4th), Kelsey Crawford (2018, B-8th)

Last Year's Summary:  5th at NXR-NY,  2nd in States B, 1st in Sectionals
Roster
Kelsey Crawford1138117
Morgan Johnson12623109
Clodagh McGroary12173398
Samantha Comstock12259375
Liliana Carey11

67
Abigail Scinicariello11409156

Outlook: The Indians' bid to defend their 2017 States title went off track after losing longtime leader Pippa Nuttall and a couple other runners at either the beginning or middle of last season, and Lauren Pollack and Cameron Crawford graduated from last year's team. Still, the margin of defeat was only 6 points at States, and with States 8th place finisher Kelsey Crawford and seniors Morgan Johnson and Clodagh McGroary forming a strong top trio, JJ-CR should be in the hunt for its third state championship in five years. The team is known for its strong season's-long development cycle, so there is a good chance the back line will be firmed up by the time November rolls around.

South Side (Cyclones)

Section 9

States Teams: 2000 (B-9th), 2002 (B-10th), 2017 (B-9th), 2018 (B-7th)
States Individuals (Top 10 finishers): Carly Woelfel (2017, B-9th)

Last Year's Summary:  7th in States B, 1st in Sectionals
Roster
Olivia Duca11114115
Carly Woeflel12237112
Kaitlyn Mohr12148788
Avery Brull11178479
Lizzy Quilty11289460
Alex Sitterly10329955

Outlook: South Side scored consecutive Sectional titles in 2018 for the first time in school history, and last year the Cyclones moved up to a 7th place at States. With 2018 States medalist Olivia Duca and 2017 States medlaist Carly Woelfel on the lead and everyone back, South Side could keep moving up at States if it can win the Sectional battle with Manhasset and North Shore again.

Goshen (Gladiators)

Section 9

States Teams:
States Individuals (Top 10 finishers): Olivia Elston (2016, B-2nd), Kayla Schramm (2018, B-9th)

Last Year's Summary:  2nd in Sectionals
Roster
Kayla Schramm1029121
Ysabella Paneto1011
101
Dana Poppe1123
75
Jade Kimmel1117
71
Kirsten McKenna1118
63
Madison Schaaff1022
60

Outlook: The route to Goshen's first ever Sectional title was opened up when state champion Cornwall and its 18-straight record of Sectional titles was pushed up to Class A. The timing is excellent for a young Gladiator team set to come into its own with States 9th place finisher Kayla Schramm and Ysabella Paneto at the top and six of the top 7 of last year's squad back for the next two years in S9-B.

Honeoye Falls-Lima (Cougars)

Section 5

States Teams:  1995 (B-6th), 1997 (B-5th), 1998 (B-1st), 1999 (B-1st), 2000 (B-1st), 2001 (B-1st), 2002 (B-1st), 2003 (B-1st), 2004 (B-1st), 2005 (B-2nd), 2006 (B-2nd), 2007 (B-2nd), 2008 (B-4th), 2009 (B-2nd), 2011 (B-3rd), 2012 (B-8th), 2015 (B-6th)
States Individuals (Top 10 finishers): Wendy Bensley (1990, B-10th), Amber Dodzweit (1998, B-10th) (1999, B-8th), Lynn Kubeja (2002, B-2nd) (2003, B-4th), Liz Deir (2003, B-4th) (2004, B-2nd) (2005, B-1st) (2006, B-1st), Audrey Mangan (2004, B-6th) (2005, B-4th), Meg Van Houton (2006, B-6th) (2007, B-6th), Amanda Moreland (2009, B-4th), Hannah Cole (2011, B-5th)

Last Year's Summary:  2nd in Sectionals
Roster
Alia Spaker9453104
Ann Brennan109
91
Tessa Bradley1110
91
Jada Balmer1219
72
Ella Henzel Cronin1016
71
Haley Robinson1117
68

Outlook: Honeoye Falls-Lima won seven straight Class B titles from 1998 to 2004, but it has not been to States since 2015. That should change this year for a Cougar team that has its top 6 back while chief rivals Mendon and Sutherland suffered big graduation losses. Freshman States finalist Alia Spaker gives HFL a strong presence at the top, and some upward development should be happening on a still fairly young Cougar squad.
