Week 7 (August 25th - 31st)

Sunday August 25th - So I was planning on my typical long run today, but I started showing goats at 10:00AM and never finished until 6:00 PM. My legs hurt so bad I think I walked 10 miles in circles today. On a positive note my goat my favorite goat Togo was named Best Doe In Show!

Monday August 26th - Today getting out of bed was so painfulWe traveled to Tully and met the team at Heiberg Forest. We ran 4 x 1.25 mile loop, that is gradual uphill for the first part, then you hit a steep climb, then you run gradual to the mile mark, then you finally get to run downhill to the finish. All I'm going to say is yikers.

  • 8 miles total (Heiberg Forest, 4 x 1.25 mile loop @ interval pace)

Tuesday August 27th - Finally the last day at the fair, I love the State Fair but I am always going nonstop. I begged Coach Mom for an easy day and she assured me it would be, that is until she told all of us what we had to do a 25 minutes easy she starts out with than fartlek for the last 20 minutes. What is easy about that? Grrrrr. When we got back to the fairgrounds, it was time for the closing awards. My goat won the milking contest and I won goat judging. Not to flex or anything but it was the first time I had to give reasons over the mic. Nailed it.

  • 6 miles @ Labrador Pond with fartlek added in

Wednesday August 28th - So sometimes Coach Mom does have a heart, well maybe a Grinch Heart, but a heart. She actually let me sleep in and go for a run on my own. I ran for 4 miles then did 4 on the elliptical just to give my legs a break. I actually didn't feel that bad. It might have had something to do with the 14 hours I slept last night.

  • 8 miles

Thursday August 29th - Another thing that has become tradition is to go to the Cazenovia Trail Run. It is a 3 mile race but the course is brutal, lots of uphills and than more gradual uphills. It is a really good test of fitness. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel especially after my legs felt like dirt in the warm up. I never felt good throughout the entire race but I ran 17:34 which was over a minute personal best on that course compared to last year. I was only 9 seconds off the boys winning time.

  • 7 miles total

Friday August 30th - So this is one run we all dread. We start at the bottom of Song Mountain and we run a gradual uphill for 3 miles, then we climb almost vertical for 2 miles, then we come back to Song Mountain. I thought my legs were going to fall off on the uphill climb. My brother Ian, ran most of the run with me which was awesome because he never pushes the pace. After the run we did some strides, and I rolled my ankle. Don't worry though, I'm now ready to rock and roll (pun intended)

  • 8 mile run

Saturday August 24th  - My ankle was still a little swollen and discolored so no running for me today. I went on the elliptical for 7 miles. You already know I watched episodes (yes it's plural) of The Office.

  • 7 miles

Weekly Mileage: 46 Miles

Note: My ankle is now fine; I just wanted to take it easy to ensure that.
