2019 Summer Training Blog: Tully's Brooke Rauber Week 6 & 7

Week 1 l Week 2 l Week 3

Week 4 (Aug. 4th - Aug 10th)

Flew home late last night and today I am off to Aim High Running Camp. It has been a crazy couple of weeks, but well worth every minute of it. Last week I got to meet a lot of cool new people, and this week I get to hang with my New York Friends. I heard Sage Hurta was going to be a counselor this year at Aim High, and I was fortunate enough to get to be in her cabin. Sage was a senior at Hamilton High School when I was a 7th grader.

Sun. Aug 4th - Jenna and I were put in group 2 with a bunch of guys. I thought I was going to be dead from jet lag, but it turned out I was just fine. We ran right with them in the middle of the pack. This was a bad move because I think they forgot to apply deodorant.

  • 7 mile

Mon. Aug 5th -  It was so hard to get up at 6:50 because of the time change. I don't really remember it because I was basically sleep running. The evening run was good though it felt like an easy 6.

  • 3 mile morning run, 6 mile evening run

Tues. Aug 6th - If I'm being honest, the warmup hurt as much as the actual workout. This workout was supposed to be tempo but I got competitive with the guys so it may have been a little bit too fast. At the end, olympic steeplechaser, Shalaya Kipp ran with me so that was pretty AWESOME.

  • workout 6 x 1000 meters tempo with 90 seconds rest between ( total 7 miles)

Wed. Aug 7th - All of my group went on this run that was all downhill on the way out and all uphill on the way back. On the way out, I was like oh no, this is going to hurt on the way back and boy was I right. We ran super fast down the hills and than even faster on the way back up. I think at this point I might have smelled almost as bad as the guys (not quite, that is not possible).

  • 6 mile hard run

Thurs. Aug 8thWe did what they call "the falls run" which is downhill 4 miles to the falls and than 4 miles back to camp. Jenna and I decided it was a good idea to take the bus back so we only did 6 miles. The guys sprinted back so I am glad we did take the bus even though it might have hurt my pride a little.

  • 6 mile run

Fri. Aug 9th - This morning's run was so much fun. We did a mud run. We ran 4 miles but in that we stopped to throw mud at each other. Katie, Chelsea, Kate, and many more ganged up on me and ambushed me. Coach Moore got mud in my hair so I had to take revenge. Also, Jenna and I had a mud battle where we each ended up on the ground. Overall it was an amazing run.

  • 4 mile mud run, 3 mile easy run

Sat. Aug 10th -  This was a sad day because I had to leave Aim High. It was so hard to say goodbye to my friends including Jenna, Colton, CNS, and the Liverpool team along with the counselors. I got home and decided to run with my brother, Ian, and my cousin, Damion. We did a 6 mile loop around the trail by my house. The pace was super easy considering the previous weeks runs. (sorry Ian and Damion).

  • 6 miles

Weekly total - 48 miles: A bigger mileage week because of the doubles at camp, but it was worth it.

Dave and Jen if you are reading this, thank you for an amazing week. I had so much fun and can't wait until next year!
