Sean Hewitt Wins Jamaican Jr Champs, Sets State Class Record

The Season is not over for a select few athletes who are competing for a spot at the Pan-Am Games, to be held at San Jose, Costa Rica later this Summer.  For most athletes, that means traveling to the USATF U20 Champs in Florida, fighting for a spot to be on Team USA.  For an even more select few, they traveled south just a little more.

Running in the U18 Section of the Jamaican National Champs, New York State Champ Sean Hewitt (Francis Lewis) took home the Gold Medal in Record fashion.  The Junior from Queens went to a new lifetime best of 51.26, good for NY #5 All-Time in the event.  In addition, he set the State Class Record for Juniors, en route to a Nation Leading time, as well as a PSAL Section Record.  His win also guarantees a chance to lower that record even further, as he travels to Pan-Am's to take on the International Competition.

Note: Record is pending confirmation of proper Hurdle Height.

The Summer still has some track life to it.  Stay tuned!
