Who's Representing MN at Nationals?

New Balance Nationals Outdoor Day 2 - Friday, 6/14

George Jackson, Hopkins

Boys 110mH Emerging Elite Prelims - 10:35am CST, Finals - 2:35 CST

George Jackson was somewhat of a surprise winner at the Hamline Elite Meet back in April, but is now well known as one of Minnesota's top hurdlers. He's also only a sophomore, a large part of a strong underclassmen showing in hurdle events this season. Jackson has run 14.33 this spring, especially impressive considering that he didn't crack 15 seconds all of last year.

Hopkins Boys: Ty Bennett, Wyatt Lubarski, Sam Leervig, and Ben O'Black

1000 Sprint Medley Swedish Relay Championship - 12:20pm CST

The 1000 Sprint Medley Swedish Relay, a rarely run race, consists of legs 100, 200, 300, and 400 meters in length. Hopkins will be running with Ty Bennett, a mainstay on the Royals' 4x100, Lubarski and Leervig, members of the State Record holding 4x200 team, and O'Black, a 400m specialist.

Shef West, The Blake School

Boys 1 Mile Freshman - 4:20pm CST

Shef West qualified for State in the 1600m out of a competitive Section 4A, making him the second youngest competitor in the entire Class A field. After running 4:31.86 at sections, West will look to break 4:30 for the first time in his career.

Olivia Beschorner, Mankato East

Girls 1 Mile Junior High - 4:35 CST

Beschorner will be doubling back from the 800m. Her personal best of 5:17.24 came at the Section 2AA True Team Meet.

Taylor Isabel, Mounds View

Girls 1 mile Junior High - 4:35 CST

Isabel will be running the mile a day after the 2 mile. She's no slouch in this event, placing fourth in the Suburban East Conference in 5:16.17

Elliott McArthur, Mounds View
Boys 1 Mile Junior High - 4:50pm CST

The mile might be McArthur's best event. He qualified for State and dropped a 4:22.40 this season, though he won't be running fresh after the 2 mile on Thursday.

Grace Ping, Cotter

Girls 5000m Championship - 5:05pm CST

The Class A 1600m champion will elect for a longer distance at New Balance. Ping has had much success in the 5k, setting numerous age group world records. She ran 16:25 at the Portland Track Festival back in 2017, and torched the distance on the grass, running 17:10 at NXR Heartland. Ping has raced the 5000m twice at New Balance Nationals, taking second at Outdoors in 2016 and finishing fifth at Indoors in 2018.
