A hit hurdle may have prevented the State Title Chibugo Obichere (Valley Stream South) was looking for, but the State Meet Record from the prelims may be a fine consolation prize. In the first heat of the morning, Obichere blasted a 7.82 performance, dipping under the previous record of 7.85. It moves Obichere to NY #5 All-Time in the event, with one more shot of lowering that mark next week, en-route to the 60HH Title at New Balance. The event would eventually by won by Indya Richards (Gates-Chili), whose 7.87 mark places her NY #8 All-Time.
