Anna Hall Crushes Pentathlon National Record

It might only be February, but Anna Hall has already nabbed her second high school national record.

The future University of Georgia Bulldog went toe-to-toe with the best professionals in the country at the USATF Indoor Championships in Staten Island, N.Y. in pursuit of the pentathlon high school national record, and before anyone in Colorado could sit down for a Friday night dinner, Hall had given everyone something to talk about, again.

The Valor Christian senior set the tone from first event, the 60 hurdles, running just off her personal best in 8.59 to finish ninth in the event. And she was just warming up. Hall tied for the first in the high jump with a jump of 5-11.25, making it clear that she intended to not only claim the record, but crush it.

After two events she sat in second place overall with 1,988 points, which was nearly halfway to the 4,068 record owned by Kendell Williams, who was also in the field.

Hall finished eighth in the shot with a toss of 41-8.5, which was just off her PR, and ninth in the long jump with a leap of 18-4.5. Despite being well off her PR of 19-9, Hall entered the final event, the 800, in sixth place and only needing a 2:34 to claim her second national record.

A 2:34 half mile seemed like a stroll for the owner of a 2:11 PR, and it was.

Hall made no contest of the 800, or even the record she was chasing. She blitzed the field with a 2:16.11 to win the event by three seconds, and finish third overall with a new high school record of 4,302 points.

That marks Hall's second national record, as she owns the Heptathlon record as well.

She will compete at New Balance Nationals Indoor in March with eyes on her third straight title.
