Salif Mane Takes A Big Jump Into US #1 For 2019

At the end of Spring Track, we had a duel under the sun of CNS, where Jeremiah Willis (CNS) and Jadan Hanson (Uniondale) were both putting up big numbers in the Triple Jump pit.  Each had marks over 49-ft, which proved to be the magic number for a State Title.  But what was even more impressive, was that they were both under classmen.

Flash forward to the start of Indoor Track, and they may no longer be the only favorites.  Senior Salif Mane (Taft Educational) let loose one of the biggest jumps in December History to open his season at the PSAL Night of Sprints, ten days ago.  The NYC athlete unleashed a personal best of 49-1.5, good for the current US #1 in the very early season.

Mane was 4th in D1 last spring, and 5th in Federation, but looks to join in on the deepest Triple Jump States field in recent memory.  Never before have we had three athletes chasing the magic 50-foot jump.  Only 7 NY athletes in history have surpassed that barrier, and each of them did so with little in-state competition at their level.

Mane is now NY #15 All-Time in the Triple Jump, solidifying his legacy.  He can only improve that from here.
