NE Boys Individuals
Breakdown: The Top 4 athletes in the field all find themselves on teams outside the projected podium. Ryan Oosting has twice run the fastest Speed Rated performance in the country. His prior marks put him right in the conversation with DJ Principe (La Salle Academy 2016), who set the course record here at Bowdoin. While course conditions look to put a damper on that happening again, it should give Oosting a buffer on the rest of the field. Illinois transfer Zach Kinne should be leading the chase pack here, joined by his teammate Dan McGoey. There has been some interchangeability there this season, so either athlete should be ready to take charge. Next, there is Ethan Wechsler, fourth place at last week's NJ MOC. He is the top entrant from the Garden State, and seems to have a lead on the field. The last spot on the plane to Portland is where Team Qualifiers come into question. Tim McInerney is the next top rated athlete, but CBA is looking to make the trip as a team. If that happens, fellow NJ'er Edwin Klanke moves up a notch to become the 5th favorite. Anything crazy happens behind him, and McInerney may be racing for a seat by himself out West.
