New York Boys State Rankings - Week 6

Following Week of Saturday, October 20

Week 6 rankings follow a week that was the calm before the storm of the post season armageddons that begin with the county, borough, and regional meets this weekend. Only small movements happened in the rankings, and most teams that were running saw their ratings slide back after big efforts at Manhattan, Burnt Hills, and Alden Bulldog during the previous weekend.

The biggest meet of last weekend with about 20 ranked teams participating was the Section 1 Coaches meet, but the very subdued speed ratings indicates that most of the teams were mainly using the meet to review the course for postseason and to get in a moderate workout before the big championships and state qualifiers looming ahead. Arlington, Pearl River, Scarsdale, and Irondequoit won races, but only the Irvington Bulldogs ran at a level above their season's speed ratings level, and most teams were running 5-15 points back.

Out at Brown in RI, Sachem North was the top NY team with a 2nd in the Championship race, and Goshen moved well up in the Class B rankings after winning the Brown-1 race. Xavier and St. Anthony's battled closely at the top of the NYC Carnival A race to set up their quest for the CHSAA championship. Shaker won at Albany County, Churchville-Chili was the winner at Marion, Penfield won at Clarence, Delhi won at Marathon, and Beaver River took the Weedsport victory.

The coming week offers up a wide-ranging smorgasbord of great meets, but the Suburban Council, Monroe County, Section 6 ECIC, Section 4 IAC, Section 9 OCIAA, Section 1's Rockland-Westchester-Northern trio of County meets, the PSAL and CHSAA boro or city championships at Van Cortlandt, Section 8 Conference and Section 11 Division championships are enough to keep the head spinning.
