This Year's Outlook
Owego won its first Sectional title last year and then claimed a very respectable 4th place at States. The middle section of last year's varsity has graduated, but the top duo of Nathan Bowers and Cameron Szabo are back, and the Indians seem to be intent on making a home at States for another year. Johnson City could still challenge, and Owego's lineup definitely needs an infusion of youth with nothing but seniors among the varsity returners. The S4-B title should stay in Owego though for one more year.

This Year's Outlook
Last year Pioneer finished a moderate 17 points in back of East Aurora in S6-B, and this year the Panthers' top 4 are returning while the Blue Devils lose last year's top 3. Whether Pioneer can pull in enough depth to hold off East Aurora and Lewiston-Porter remains to be seen, but with Jared Hediger and three other top 20 Sectionals finishers returning, the Panthers will start the year as small favorites in the section.

This Year's Outlook
Jamesville-Dewitt has not won at Sectionals in 9 years, but after a 3rd place finish in 2017 followed by reigning champ Westhill's departure to Class C, the Red Rams may be in the driver's seat. All but one of last year's team is back, including top 15 guys from last year's S3-B, Kaleel Boykins and Ahviere Reese. Jamesville-Dewitt and New Hartford have similar speed ratings, the Rams have more balance and depth for this year's battle.

New HartfordSpartans

Section: 3Class: BColors: Red and blue

New Hartford's Josh Farmer finished 9th at States in 2017.

This Year's Outlook
New Hartford finished 2nd to Westhill in the S3-B last year, and the Warriors were reclassified to S3-C for 2018. States medalist Josh Farmer will lead a Spartans team that is seeking its third Sectionals title in four years. Depth could be a bit of an issue here since New Hartford is in a head-to-head battle with a deeper Jamesville-Dewitt squad. Bringing in some young recruits will be key here.

This Year's Outlook
Schalmont has never won a Sectional title or had a top 10 finisher at States. The first item will not change this year for the Sabres in a section that includes Burnt Hills, but Francisco Beltran finished 15th at States in 2017 and his brother Antonio was 28th, so the second mark is definitely in reach. The five listed returning varsity guys are all seniors, so Schalmont is another of the teams that will need a big recruiting effort this year.
