1Arlington, Carmel, Suffern, Scarsdale, North Rockland, Fox LaneArlington aims for its fifth straight S1-A title and begins the year with a big gap over Carmel.
2Saratoga, Shenendehowa, Guilderland, Niskayuna, Shaker, Ballston Spa, BethlehemSaratoga returns its top 5 and has the lead in the battle with Shen and Guilderland to replace a depleted Niskayuna as S2-A champ.
3Fayetteville-Manlius, Baldwinsville, Liverpool, Cicero-North Syracuse, Rome Free Academy, Central Square, West GeneseeFM is top ranked among the A teams and should repeat as S3-A champ. Baldwinsville has a bit of an edge over Liverpool for the 2nd spot.
4Corning, Ithaca, Horseheads

Corning is looking for a third straight state championship and will be the top team in S4-A.

5Irondequoit, Penfield, Churchville-Chili, McQuaid, Fairport,, BrightonIrondequoit returns five of top 6 and has a small edge over a pack of rivals in S5-A.
6Clarence, Frontier, Lancaster, Williamsville North,  LockportReigning champ Clarence has a slight edge over Frontier.
7No representatives
8East Meadow, Syosset, Port WashingtonReigning S8-A champ Manhasset is back down in Class B, and East Meadow and Syosset start the year pretty even.
9Washingtonville, Monroe-Woodbury, Warwick Valley, Minisink Valley, Pine Bush, FD RooseveltS9-A should be the closest sectional battle in Class A, and Washingtonville appears to have a little more depth than reigning champ Monroe-Woodbury.
10No representatives
11Smithtown, Northport, Ward Melville, Sachem North, Commack
Reigning champ Smithtown has some top level returners and good depth and should be the story in S11-A.
