Runners To Watch: Cameron McLeod, Needham

During the next few weeks leading up to the beginning of the cross-country season, MileSplit MA will highlight some of our top returning runners this fall. We graduated some outstanding harriers from last year, but we still have an impressive list of talent coming back this season with hopes of making their marks on the dirt trails.

Cameron McLeod, Needham

McLeod returns this season after breakthrough junior season where he finished seventh overall at the Division 1 All State Meet, the second best among returnees. Just a week prior to his top finish, the Needham star clocked a PR of 15:50.98 for the 5K distance, an effort that earned him fifth place at the EMass Division 1 race. During the season, McLeod also solidified third-place positions at the Amherst Invitational and the Catholic Memorial Invitational. The talented senior's performances from 2017, where he dipped under 16 minutes several times, was a big improvement from what he accomplished as a tenth-grader where he often hovered on the low to high 17-minute range.
