State of the Action

This is a hard race to predict.  On paper, hometown Joe Williams is the top seed by a lot.  However, both his marks of 13.97 and 14.06 were both wind-aided, or without a gauge.  The same can be said for Mike Mullally, whose 14.03 came without a gauge.  At their respective qualifiers, both were pushed back to the more normal range around 14.30, which puts them dead even with the field.  Only Tai Brown has ever run fast under legal conditions, hitting 13.86 last year.  And yet, put these three in a race together, and you can expect fireworks, as all three have the feeling of running those fast times in their legs.  We could see a final that brings three athletes under 14secs.
