They might not have won the race overall, but that didn't stop the boys of Saranac from becoming the fastest Division 2 team in the State. Their 4x400m finished 4th place at the Warwick Fast Times Invite, a mighty hike for the team that borders both Canada and Vermont. Not only that, their mark of 3:22.37 edged out the mark set by Pearl River at 3:22.62 from the Penn Relays Carnival earlier in the year.
But there was some more significance from the big mark. Their race overtakes the previous Section 7 Record, set way back in 2001 by Peru, at a quick 3:23.19. Section's 7 and 10 are probably the most affected by the cold weather of any Section's in the State, so there was plenty of resilience shown from a team who managed to excel despite this Winter's bitter conditions. Hear from them below, and watch their race here.
Their next goal is surely to target that Division 2 State Record, held by Bayport / Blue Point at 3:19.54 from 2010.
