Schenectady, NY - The weather wasn't looking to cooperate at the Eddy Games, but it didn't stop the distance events from taking center stage in the rankings.

Section 3 came and conquered here, as they put in the US #1 and US #2 performances.  Led by Freshman Brooke Rauber (Tully), the race came through quick in the driving rain.  Regardless, Rauber came through in 4:28.87, with Hali Ielfield (South Lewis) right behind at 4:30.28.  Rounding out the Section 3 stars was Carly Benson (West Genesee) at 4:36.42.  This race also makes Rauber the 4th fastest freshman ever, over the 1500m distance.  Check out the full list here.

The State's top returner is doing just that - returning to form.  Hannah Reale (Shenendehowa) drops a 2:13.67 in the rain to pull back into NY #5 for the event.  Right on her heels were a pair from Section 3, Emily Young (West Genesee) and Jessica Donald (Tully) both putting in strong times, which also drive them into the Top 15 in the State.  Reale took out the race hard, coming through 400m in 65-seconds, creating a minor gap.

Once again, Kelsey Chmiel (Saratoga) dominated this event at the Eddy Games, winning by over 30-seconds.  Her mark of 9:29.28 is only ten seconds slower than her mark last year, but it was also done in the driving rain.  Chmiel looks in top form, now with a US #1 for the event.

Chris Hughes (Glens Falls) comes out with a strong finish to send him to NY #15 with his 9:19.30.  That mark now means we have more guys under 9:20 than we did last year, and we still have a month left of racing to go.  That should make for a competitive State Meet.
