Lanae-Tava Thomas Back In Action With Two New State Leaders

Henrietta, NY - It was Lanae-Tava Thomas' (Rush-Henrietta) last home Invitational, aptly named the Royal Comet Invite, and she wanted to leave her mark one last time.  That she did, improving upon her own Meet Record in both the 100m and 200m dash.

Despite a windy day of competition, both marks would come across wind-legal for the Henrietta senior.  First, in the 100m dash, Thomas would blast away in the Final-On-Time with a 11.66 winning performance, with a 1.9m/s tailwind.  That mark bested her previous meet record of 12.05.  Thomas carries a personal best of 11.62 run last Summer, good for NY #4 All-Time.  She has also run 11.57, but the mark exceeded the allowable wind with 3.5m/s.

For the 200m, it again was a very quick.  Thomas, already with the meet record at 24.30, blasted past that with a 23.87 at +1.3m/s.  That drop in time from a year ago indicates a strong starting point for Thomas.  Last year, after running her 24.30 here, she would go on to run 23.42 at the State Meet, into a strong 3.6m/s headwind.  That mark was good for NY #2 All-Time, and would probably surpass the State Record run in more docile conditions.

Thomas is the defending Outdoor State Champ in the 200m and the Long Jump.  With her demonstrated speed, she is on track to defend those titles.
