Carroll after winning the Yale Invite this winter
Johnstown, NY - The year of the Pole Vault continues. This past weekend, Indoor State Champ Alana Carroll (Averill Park) matched her Indoor Personal best, to capture the win at the Johnstown Invite. Her mark of 13-6 is a new Outdoor Best by six inches. Carroll went on to win another gold medal the following day, at the Colonie Relays.
The mark now makes her the third best Vaulter in State History, both Indoors and Out. She trails only Mary Saxer (14-2) and Erica Ellis (14-1.25) Indoors, and then only Tiffany Maskulinski (14-0) and Mary Saxer (13-9) Outdoors. The new heights are a good start for the senior, as she looks to the Spring State Meet for her first Outdoor Gold Medal. She has finished as high as 2nd in her Sophomore year, and will be looking to do one better in 2018.
Carroll trains with the Hudson Valley Flying Circus, under coaches Tim St. Lawrence and Hugh Cauthers. Carroll will attend Harvard University in the Fall.
