Western Branch Boys Set State Record

Previews and recaps from New Balance Indoor Nationals for Team VA

The team of Alvin Hamilton, Darian Perkerson, Jared Knight, and Alfandre Page made history in the 4x400 this weekend. This quartet teamed up to run a Virginia State record of 3:18.94 in the 4x400m relay. This time beat out Lake Braddock's 2003 time of 3:19.22.

This marks the fourth time in state history the record changed hands. The original record according to the official all-time list was Gar-Field's 3:19.58c in 1981. It was broken in 1983 by T.C.Williams running 3:19.38 and then in 2003 by Lake Braddock.

This group of Bruins ended up an All-American fourth in that race. They were joined by Colonial Forge who finished 6th in 3:20.55. That time ranks 15th all-time in the state.

Western Branch also fielded a solid 4x800m relay team that finished an All-American fifth place. Their team of Knight, Hamilton, Chase Osborne, and Kalen Whaley ran 7:49.62. That time ranks 8th all-time for Virginia and now means Western Branch ranks inside the top 10 all-time in every relay for Virginia for both genders.
