4 State Records Go Down In Final Day At New Balance Nationals Indoor

NEW YORK, NY -- In a wild final day at New Balance Nationals Indoor, four Pennsylvania state records went down (three of which were national title-winning efforts) as Keystone State athletes put down some legendary performances.

Check out the state meet records that went down on Sunday:

  • Ayden Owens of North Allegheny ran 7.59 in the 60-meter hurdles to grab the national title in the event and break Deworski Odom's 1995 PA state record, which was 7.62.
  • Dock Mennonite's Austin Kratz ran 21.01 in the boys' 200 meters to break his own PA state record (21.04). Kratz was passed by US#1 Eric Allen Jr. but Kratz found an extra gear in the homestretch and went by Allen to take the national title.
  • In a dramatic boys' 4x400-meter relay, the Saint Joseph's Prep boys ran 3:16.08 to win. Anchor Miles Green led an incredible comeback to put Prep in the lead and brought it home for the win. That also breaks Abington's 2011 state record of 3:16.78.
  • Thelma Davies of Girard College broke her PA state record in the 60 meter dash to finish second to standout freshman Tamari Davis of Florida. Davies ran 7.33 to break her previous record of 7.37.
