Thompson, Donnelly Accept Bids to Millrose Games

Two of the fastest milers in the country are from Brentwood, Tennessee.

And they'll both be featured on one of the biggest stages in track and field.

Scott Thompson and Beth Donnelly both officially accepted bids to compete in the High School Mile at the 111th Millrose Games.

The event will take place in New York City at the historic Armory on February 3rd.

Thompson is a favorite to win the competition. He comes in with the second fastest personal best in the field of 14 runners. Thompson ran his personal best of 4:08.22 last June at the Festival of Miles. He opened up this season two weeks ago at the Commodore Invitational, running 4:14.

He's just one of four runners seeded below 4:10.

Donnelly is just a sophomore. But she's had a breakthrough season, dating back to the cross country season. She improved her personal best from 19:51 to 17:53 by the end of the cross country season. And then to open up her indoor campaign, Donnelly broke five minutes in the mile at the Commodore Invite.

Donnelly's 4:59.01 gives her the final qualifying spot in the Millrose field. A year ago, her personal best was 5:20.

Hasty Headlines this Weekend

When mentioning Brentwood, you can't leave out Brodey Hasty. His status for the Millrose Games is still up in the air. But this week, he'll take on elite competition in New York City.

Hasty is suiting up in the Dr Sanders Invitational at the Armory. And he's looking to break four minutes in the mile.

If Hasty can go sub-4, or just show that he's in range of doing so soon, then he'll likely receive a bid to the prestigious Wanamaker Mile at the Millrose Games.

There's a chance that Brentwood could have a runner in both high school miles and the professional mile at the hallmark event of the indoor track season around the world.
